GmapGolf was started not long after Google opened up their maps with an API. This allowed many people to start using Google Maps in interesting ways. Not many people had not done much "entertainment" or "gaming" wise with it though, and after using Google Maps and seeing how nice it was to view golf courses, the thought came up "Why not simulate golf on the images?". Thus, GmapGolf was born.

GmapGolf is right now still in Beta. The code for "creating" a golf course (and editing them) is fairly sound. Once you sign up for a username, feel free to lay out your favorite course that we don't have in the system yet. The "playing" part of GmapGolf is still very much in Beta, and will be for quite a while even when the courses are "playable", as the play by many people will help "tweak" the code behind the playing part of the site to the point where we think it is as accurate physically as possible.

After we are able to get the code close to and then totally out of "beta" mode, we'll be adding quite a few more features, including the ability to keep track of your rounds played with scores; a 'favorite courses' feature; high score boards and even possibly "tournament" play against other Gmap Golfers.
